Ghiya Kofta Balls ready to swim in the Gravy 😉

Ghiya Kofta!

Ingredients:

For Kofta:

1 grated Ghiya(bottle guard)

1 finely chopped onion

4 tbsp Gram flour

2 tbsp chilly powder

1/2 tbsp turmeric powder

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

For Gravy:

3 tsp Oil

1 tsp jeera(for seasoning)

1 tsp Turmeric Powder

2 tsp Coriander Powder

1 tsp Garam masala

2 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste

2 Green chilly slit

1 Onion (finely chopped)

2 Tomatoes (finely chopped)

Salt to taste

Method:

1. Keep the grated ghiya aside for a while, say 10 mins and drain all the water.

2. Saute the chopped onions with minimal oil until they are soft and add them to the grated ghiya.

3. Add salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder and  gram flour and make a soft dough.

4. Keep the dough aside for 10 mins so that all the moisture oozes out. If you find the dough bit wet then add some dry flour to it.

5. Roll out small balls of equal size and fry them in oil until they turn golden brown(like pakodas).

6. Take a kadai with little oil and  fry the chopped onions and tomatoes.

7. Also add the ginger garlic paste to the above.

8. Cool the above mixture and grind them into a fine paste.

9. Now add 2 tsp of oil in a kadai, add jeera and let them splutter.

10. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala to the oil and after they change colour add the onion tomato paste and slit green chillies.

11. Add little water and salt(to ur taste) and  bring the gravy to boil in medium flame for  5 to 7 mins.

12. After the gravy becomes creamy and is boiling, add the hot fried koftas to the gravy.

13. Let it boil for another 3mins.

14. Add little butter/desi ghee on top and garnish it with coriander leaves.

14. Serve the Ghiya kofta hot with chapathis/rotis.

TitBits 🙂

* corn flour can be used instead of gram flour ( i tried both and the taste is all the same! ).

* Customize your gravy to your own taste by adding extra flavours like mint leaves etc.

Thanks a ton!

Enjoy the Ghiya Kofta! 🙂
