Vazhaipoo Vadai!!!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Toor dal

1 cup Channa dal

2-3 Red Chillies

1 Onion finely chopped

1 1/2 tsp fennel seeds

2 tsp buttermilk

1/4 tsp turmeric pwdr

1 pinch Asofoetida

1 Small Banana flower

Curry leaves

Oil for Frying.

Method:

1. Remove the cover of the flower one by one and also remve the florets one at a time.

2. Brush the florets on your palm and remove  the stamens only  i.e a stalk with a round head.

3. As and when u remove the stamens from every flower in a floret, chop the florets and soak them into water mixed with buttermilk and turmeric in order to avoid the decolouration.

4. Remove all the florets the same way until u reach the middle of the flower.

5. Soak the channa dal and toor dal along with the red chillies for about 1-2  hr.

6. Drain the water and grind them into a coarse batter.

7. Add the chopped onions, curry leaves, fennel seeds and salt to the batter.

8. Drain the chopped banana flower and add them to batter as well.

9. Mix the batter well so that the onions and banana flower are evenly spread.

10. Take a lemon size ball of batter and flatten them and drop it into the tava containing hot oil.

11. Flip the vada to the other side once they turn golden brown.

12. Remove when the vada is evenly coloured and serve it hot!

TitBits 😀

* Apply little oil to ur palm while using the banana flower bcos they r a bit sticky in nature.

* Don cook the chopped florets separately as  they ll get cooked along with the batter.

* Cant wait till the dals r soaking?? Instead Soak them in hot water for jus 30-40 mins.

This is one of my fav vadai. This has an awesome aroma  when it is actually cooking.

Its raining outside??

Cant walk to a chat shop at the corner of ur street??
