Ingredients:
1 bunch of Palak 2 Tomatoes Chopped 1 Onion Chopped 1/2 cup moong dal/ payatham parupu 1 Green Chilly 2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste 1 tbsp Coriander pwdr 1 tsp Chilly pwdr 1 pinch turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp Garam masala(optional) 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds 1 tbsp oil Curry leaves Salt to tasteMethod:
1. Wash the spinach leaves and put them in a bowl with the washed moong dal.
2. Add some water to it and pressure cook it for just 2 whistles approximately for 10 mins.
3. Meanwhile, heat a pan with oil and add the cumin seeds,curry leaves and once they splutter add the ginger-garlic paste,coriander pwdr,chilly pwdr, garam masala and saute until they change color.
4. Now add the chopped onions and saute until they are soft and then add chopped tomatoes,salt and green chilly slit and continue sauting till the tomatoes are really soft.
5. Now add the pressure cooked spinach and moong dal.
6. Close the lid and cook for 5-7 mins.
7. Adjust salt according to your taste and the dal palak is ready to serve.

*Dont drain the water after the spinach and moong dal is pressure cooked. So better add only sufficient water to cook them.
* You can also boil the spinach n moong dal in a vessel instead of cooker but it is time consuming so i suggest u pressure cook them.
* You can also use store bought tomato puree instead of fresh tomatoes.
* Dilute it a bit and you can then serve this dish as Lentil-Palak soup 😉
Dal Palak tastes good with chapathi or roti. This is really a nutritious side dish.
